Srinagar, Jan 10 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar besides others received the booster dose as government kick-started booster-dose vaccination drive for people above 60-years with comorbidities, officials said Monday.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that LG Manoj Sinha kick-started the launch of precautionary doses in District hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu where he was later given a booster dose. The LG while speaking on the occasion advised people to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior in spirit.

Officials said that Inspector General of Police Kashmir zone Vijay Kumar also took a booster dose shot at a police hospital in Srinagar in presence of director health services Kashmir.

He also appealed to the eligible population to get their booster dose at the earliest in order to beat the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, senior citizens who took booster doses were jubilant. They requested other people to come for the doses to keep Covid at a bay.

Mehbooba Majeed, an 85-year-old woman from Srinagar said that booster doses are very important for elderly people so that their immunity will last for more time but people must continue to take precautions too.

Mehbooba, a breast cancer survivor, who had suffered heart attack recently said that elderly people should not roam unnecessarily and people shouldn’t believe in rumours and instead get doses at the earliest.

Nayeema Banoo, a 65-year-old woman, from Srinagar also said that people who have already taken two doses must come for the third dose that is booster dose in order to prevent Covid spread.

She said that they have already taken two doses and haven’t felt anything that was being spread through rumours. “People come must forward especially those with comorbidities, to get booster dose as proper vaccination prevents people from getting severe infections due to Covid,” she said—(KNO)
