SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 2 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said the government remains firmly committed to addressing the challenges of unemployment, infrastructure gaps and social welfare with renewed energy and determination.
Addressing MLAs in the Central Hall of the J&K Legislative Assembly complex, the Lieutenant Governor said the government, during its first year in office, has sought to combine development with dignity, growth with social justice and progress with peace.
“Guided by the vision of inclusive governance, the government remains committed to addressing the challenges of unemployment, infrastructure gaps and social welfare,” he said, according to Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
The LG said the administration has adopted a humane and compassionate approach while dealing with issues affecting common citizens, with emphasis on fair treatment, dignity and sensitivity in governance.
He added that decisions concerning employees, daily wagers, contractual workers and marginalised sections have been examined with empathy, and corrective measures initiated wherever required.
Highlighting reservation reforms, Sinha said these have strengthened representation and inclusivity in public institutions. He said special focus is being placed on the welfare of tribal communities through hostels, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, scholarship support and effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act.
The Lieutenant Governor said the past year marked a significant milestone in J&K’s democratic journey with the formation of an elected government after several years. “This transition to popular governance has strengthened public faith in democratic institutions and restored participatory governance,” he said.
He further said the government has focused on responsive and people-centric administration, citing regular public grievance redressal meetings at the Chief Minister’s Outreach Office and strengthening of the JK Samadhan portal, which has enabled time-bound resolution of thousands of grievances.
Reiterating that good governance remains the cornerstone of the development strategy, the LG said sustained reforms in transparency, accountability, digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery have enhanced institutional efficiency and public trust.
This was Sinha’s third address to the J&K Assembly since the formation of the NC-led government. The address, prepared by the elected government, outlines its policies, achievements and plans for the year ahead and is a statutory requirement under the J&K Reorganisation Act, 2019. (KNO)
