Reports reaching GNS said that canines attacked and injured the inhabitants at Tekipora and Diver villages.

The victims have been identified as Tabiya Jaan, Hamid Hassan, Mehran Lone, Abdul Rashid Lone, Tahira Bano, Abdul Sattar Khan, Rahil Pervaiz, Pervaiz Ahmad Wani, Khushboo Jaan and Gulzar Ahmad Ganie.

Most of the victims were taken to Sub-District Hospital Sogam for treatment.

A health department official at SDH Sogam told GNS that they have received several persons with dog bites. “They are being treated and luckily none of them has suffered any major injury”, the official said.

Meanwhile, expressing their resentment over the growing incidents of the type, the locals have urged authorities to check the population of canines in the area to avoid any such incident in coming times. (GNS)
