Sopore, Mar 02 : Scores of shopkeepers in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the newly installed-dividers at various points across the town.
Eye witnesses told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the shopkeepers across the town closed their shops and staged the protest demonstration against the administration for the installation of dividers across the town.
The protesters, as per witnesses, said that soon after the administration had installed the dividers and barriers in the main town, their business was badly affected.
“Our only demand is to remove these dividers in the main market which will give us relief,” Mushtaq Ahmad a local shopkeeper said, adding that the shopkeepers too are against the traffic mess but installing dividers and barriers is totally unjust with us.
“Commuters visiting the main market had to travel long distances to reach the market thus not only adding to the woes for them but also completely affecting our daily business,” Ishfaq Ahmad another shopkeeper said.
Meanwhile, the protesters have demanded that the dividers and barriers should be removed as soon as possible so that they can breathe a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, executive officer, president Municipal Council Sopore and SHO Sopore reached the spot and pacified the protesting people by assuring that the matter will be taken up with the administration—(KNO)
