Poonch, Feb 19 : The Department of Wildlife Protection under Rajouri and Poonch division nabbed a person and recovered a 12 bore riffle, live cartridges, meat of wild animal their corpse and other material.
In an official statement to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the department said that on the basis of specific information, an operation was launched in area along Mughal Road after information regarding poaching of wild animals in the area.
“During operation, officials said, a vehicle was signalled to stop at Panar bridge but driver didn’t stop and was chased,” the statement said. “At some distance, three persons travelling in this car escaped from the spot but driver was intercepted by the sleuths of Wildlife Protection Department.”
The statement said that from the car, 12 bore rifle, three live cartridges, one used cartridge, meat of wild animal, corpse of wild animal was recovered which was later seized from the spot along with vehicle.
“The accused who is a Government employee of education department and a resident of Sangla village of Surankote was detained from the spot and has been lodged in police lockup facility with local court in Surankote has also sent the accused in a remand of one week for further legal formalities and investigation,” the statement said.
Wildlife Warden, Mushtaq Chowdhary said that this successful operation has been conducted by a team Incharge wildlife control room Surankote, Mohammad Yaqoob Shah and was closely monitored by Munshi wildlife range Poonch, Khalid Abbas.
He added that further legal proceedings and investigation in this matter is going on with efforts are on to intercept three person who escaped from the car—(KNO)
