Srinagar, Jan 10 : Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary (Organisation) for Jammu and Kashmir, Ashok Koul, has welcomed the statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the Indus Water Treaty, indicating a rare convergence of views between the BJP and the National Conference on the sensitive water-sharing issue.

Ashok Koul told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the concerns raised by Omar Abdullah regarding the Indus Water Treaty reflect long-standing issues that have adversely impacted Jammu and Kashmir. Koul agreed that the treaty needs a serious review keeping in view the interests of the region and its development requirements.
