Govt intends to develop tourism infra at Peer-Ki-Gali, Dubjan

Srinagar, Mar 12 : Jammu and Kashmir government intends to develop tourism infrastructure at Peer-Ki-Gali and Dubjan in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Replying to the question of MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay, the Minister concerned as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the department has constructed 04 Single-Bedroom Huts at Bohrihalan Shopian under the Swadesh Darshan scheme at a sanctioned cost of Rs 166.12 lakh.

“Besides, Tourism Department has developed various tourism-related infrastructure in Shopian at a sanctioned cost of Rs 466.51 lakh under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme,” the Minister said.

He added that under the CAPEX budget, the department has completed 12 works costing Rs 261.00 lakh, and 8 new works have been initiated with an estimated cost of Rs 84.00 lakh for FY 2024-25.

“The department intends to develop tourism infrastructure at Dubjan and Peer-ki-Gali. However, construction is currently not permitted in the area, which falls in the jurisdiction of Department of Forest and Wildlife. However, in order to develop infrastructure at Peer-ki-Gali, the Department has taken up work “Construction of Cafeteria and Public Convenience on the way to Peer-ki-Gali at Hirpora” with a project cost of Rs 35.00 lakh under State Capex Budget 2024-25. The identification and transfer of land for construction of the said facility is under process,” he said.

“A proposal for rationalization of staff is under active consideration in the department for posting of the requisite staff in the said Tourism Development Authority,” he added—(KNO)
