Nadeem Ahmad, 27 a patient from Srinagar told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that he approached the Dental College for treatment of severe toothache on Frida.

However, he claimed that the doctor mistakenly extracted his healthy upper eighth tooth instead of removing the problematic lower eighth tooth (L8).

Shocked and distressed by the incident, Nadeem expressed his disappointment over the alleged blunder and demanded action against the erring doctor.

Dr Ajaz Shah, Principal, Dental College Srinagar told KNO that the doctor who was involved in extracting a healthy tooth instead of an infected one has been suspended and an explanation has been issued in favour of the head of the department.

“A three-member inquiry committee has been formed to probe the matter. The committee, led by a senior professor and including the Medical Superintendent and Administrative Officer, has been directed to submit its findings within three days,” Dr Shah said.
