Srinagar, Dec 11 : In view of commencement of the new academic year, Education Minister, Sakina Itoo Wednesday said that the process of distribution of textbooks will start soon.

The minister said that the government will deliver the textbooks to the deserving students at earliest. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Itoo said, “We are in the process of distributing free textbooks to the students. We will soon begin distributing the textbooks.”

She further said that some textbooks were already available in the stores at JKBOSE.

In the meantime, officials of JKBOSE said that some textbooks were already available in the stores at Jammu and Kashmir divisions respectively.

“We have ordered publishing of the books as per the requisitions received by the concerned Chief Education Officers (CEOs),” the official said.

He said, “We have received some of the titles and soon we will start the distribution process.”

Pertinently, the academics of the students in government schools has been badly hit in previous years as the students enrolled in these institutions usually receive free textbooks very late even after commencement of new academic sessions.

In 2023, the department couldn’t deliver free textbooks despite the passage of around two months since the new academic session started in schools.

The delay in distribution of the textbooks in schools had previously left the students at the receiving end as the department has failed to distribute the textbooks in schools on time—(KNO)
