Assembly Elections-2024 : First Randomisation of counting staff held at Shopian

SHOPIAN, October 01: The first Randomisation of the counting staff for 36-Zainapora and 37-Shopian Assembly Constituencies was today conducted here for the counting to be held on 8th of October, 2024.

The exercise was conducted in presence of District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar at Mini Secretariat Shopian. In the process, 90 staff members designated as Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Micro Observers were shortlisted with adequate reserve staff.

Adequate arrangements have been made for equipping the staff with necessary know how and orientations for the smooth conduct of counting process.

It is important to mention that the 2nd randomisation shall be done one day prior to the day of counting i,e on 7th October, in which the Assembly Constituencies shall be allotted to the counting staff whereas 3rd randomisation shall be done on the actual day of counting, 8th October, at 5:00 A.M in which tables shall be allotted to the counting staff.

The first training session for the randomised counting staff shall be held on 3rd October, 2024 in the Meeting Hall of the Mini Secretariat, Shopian in which comprehensive training and handling of EVMs shall be conducted.

Meanwhile, the DEO today inspected the counting arrangements being made at counting centres established at Mini Secretariat, Shopian. All the arrangements as per the ECI guidelines have been given final shape.

DEO was accompanied by ADC, ROs of both the assembly constituencies and Dy. DEO Shopian.
