As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), security forces had success in eliminating one hard-core militant yesterday during a day-long encounter but lost an officer Captain Deepak Singh of 48 RR.

The operation was suspended for the night but it resumed this morning with the first light. Despite heavy downpour, security forces launched the CASO and moved ahead.

Since April 28, security forces have been on the man hunt to trace hiding terrorists when a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member was killed in the upper reaches of Basantgarh in Udhampur district. It was followed by several terror incidents in Kathua and Doda district which has kept the forces on high alert.

Meanwhile, security forces also launched a massive manhunt in Kastigarh after receiving information of the presence of suspects in the area.

“Security forces had received information of the presence of suspected people inside a home in Kastigarh but didn’t find anybody. Forces also met people and asked for providing information about movement of militants,” said an official—(KNO)
