Jammu, August 09 : Police on Friday claimed to have seized Heroin like substance worth crores from Bus stand in Jammu district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that today Police Station Bus Stand, Jammu received reliable information that one person named Harmeet Singh (name changed) r/o Punjab was coming from Akhnoor towards Bus Stand with a huge consignment of Heroin like substance. Accordingly a special naka was laid by police party of PS Bus Stand and said suspect was apprehended tactfully with a bag carrying 26 packets weighing approximately 33 kgs of Heroin like substance.

According to police spokesman, this regard FIR No. 41/2024 u/s 8,21,22 NDPS Act registered in Police Station Bus Stand and investigation started. Prima facie it appears that accused obtained the consignment from Border areas and was taking it to Punjab.

However, further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages and the complete pictur, reads the statement.(GNS)
