Kashmir witnesses 13 encounters in last two weeks

26 including 15 Jaish militants killed

Srinagar, Jan 07 : Kashmir valley has witnessed 13 encounters in last two weeks resulting in killing of 26 militants.

As per the data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) 26 militants including 15 Jaish militants were killed in these 13 encounters which includes at least 07 non local militants.

On 24 December, a local hizb militant namely Shahzad Ahmad Seh from Sehpora Kulgam was killed in an encounter in Mominhall Arwani area of Anantnag district.

On 25 December, two LeT militants namely Sajad Ahmad Chak of Braripora Shopian and Basit Yaqoob Najar of Achan Pulwama were killed in an encounter in Chowgam area of Shopian district.

On the same day two AuGH militants namely Nadeem Nazir Bhat of Koil Shikargah Tral and Rahi Rasool Bhat of Kanipora Dadsara were killed in an encounter in Hardumir area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

On 26 December a newly recruited militant named Faheem Ahmad from Kandipora was killed in an encounter in K Kalan area of Bijbehara.

On 29 December, three militants namely Shahid Alias Shahzaid resident of Pakistan, Muhammad Shafi Dar of Tral and Uzair Ahmad of Mirhama Kulgam were killed in Mirhama area of Kulgam district.

On 30 December three militants namely Sultan alias Mavia a foreigner, Nisar Ahmad Khanday of Dudwangan Kapran and Altaf Ahmad Shah a resident of Nathipora Dooru were killed in an encounter in Nowgam area of Verinag in Anantnag.

However, police later said that the picture of one of the killed militants in Anantnag encounter matches with JeM top commander Samir Dar, who was the last surviving militant involved in Lethpora attack.

On 31 December, three militants including two non-locals and one local namely Suhail Ahmad Rather were killed in an encounter in Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar district.

On 01 January, a non local militant was killed in Keran sector of Kupwara district who was later identified by police as Muhammad Shabir Malik a Pakistani national.

On 03 January, LeT commander Saleem Parry of Hajin Bandipora who was active since 2016 was killed in Shalimar Srinagar.

Officials said that with Parry’s killing, Hajin hamlet of Bandipora is now militancy free as no local militant from the area is active now.

Just an hour after the killing of Saleem Parry, another encounter broke out in Gusu area of Shalimar in which one non-local militant was killed.

On 04 January, two TRF militants namely Amir Ahmad Wani from Alamgunj Shopian and Sameer Ahmad khan from Tiken Pulwama were killed in Okay area of Kulgam.

On 05 January, three militants including two non-locals and one local namely Owais Ahmad of Ashmander Pulwama were killed in an encounter in Chandgam Pulwama.

On 07 January, three Jaish militants including two foreigners and one local namely Waseem Ahmad from Nowgam Srinagar were killed in Chadoora area of Budgam district—(KNO)
