Efforts Ramped Up As MARCOS Teams Join Rescue Operation to Trace Minor Girl Drowned in River Pohru in Jaggerpora Kupwara

Kupwara, Jul 9 : MARCOS teams have joined rescue operation underway to trace a drowned minor girl in river Pohru in Jaggerpora village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Officials in the know-how of things told GNS that teams of MARCOS (Marine Commando Force) reached the site after a requisition was made by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan.

The special teams have joined the rescue operation at a time when NDRF, SDRF, Police, Army actively assisted by locals have been already carrying out an intense rescue operation for almost 24 hours since the tragic incident.

Pertinent to mention here that three minors, which included two girls boy and a boy, drowned in Saturday afternoon after they tried to retrieve slippers’ of one of a girl, which fell into the river while they were walking on the bridge built over the river.

Soon after the news spread, the locals and police launched a joint operation which yielded safe retrieval of a boy and a girl identified as Zehran Javid (11) son of Javid Ahmad Dar resident of Jagerpora and Sadiya Fayaz (9) daughter of Fayaz Ahmad Mir resident of Mughalpora Nagri respectively while the another girl namely Ronak Jan (12) daughter of Abdul Jabbar Payer 12, resident of Sulkote Kupwara continues to elude the rescuers – when this report is being filed.
