SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 17 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday informed the Legislative Assembly that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Sadhna Tunnel in Karnah area of Kupwara district is currently under preparation.
Responding to a question by MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone on the status of the Sadhna Tunnel and the proposed tunnel linking South Kashmir with Kishtwar, the government said the alignment of the project is being finalised in consultation with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), according to Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Regarding the Singhpora–Vailoo Tunnel in Kishtwar district, aimed at providing all-weather connectivity between South Kashmir and Kishtwar, the government said the project was initially sanctioned under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
However, since the Bharatmala programme is no longer in implementation, the project is currently under consideration for re-sanction under the National Highways (Original) [NH(O)] scheme, the reply stated.
The government added that the project will be executed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) as the implementing agency.
