SRINAGAR, JANUARY 30 : SSP Traffic Srinagar City Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Friday advised motorists to verify traffic challans only through the official Traffic Police website and avoid clicking on suspicious links circulated by fraudsters via SMS and WhatsApp.

Speaking to Kashmir News Trust (KNT), the SSP said several cases have come to light where people were duped after opening fake links claiming to be traffic challans. He said fraudsters are adopting different tactics to mislead the public and extract personal and financial information.

Urging citizens to remain vigilant, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat said people should not trust unsolicited messages or links related to challans and should always check and pay challans only on officially notified platforms.

The SSP said public awareness is key to preventing such cyber frauds and appealed to citizens to report suspicious messages or links to the concerned authorities.

He reiterated that the Traffic Police do not send payment links through random messages and advised the public to cross-check all information through official channels only.
