New Delhi, Jan 14: The Embassy of India in Iran has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals currently in the country to leave at the earliest, citing an evolving security situation.
In the advisory dated January 14, the Embassy said the directive follows an earlier advisory issued by the Government of India on January 5, 2025. Indian citizens in Iran — including students, pilgrims, businesspersons and tourists — have been advised to depart using available means of transport, including commercial flights.
The Embassy also advised Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to exercise heightened caution, avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, remain in regular contact with the Indian mission, and closely monitor local media for updates.
Nationals have been asked to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, readily accessible at all times. The Embassy said it would extend assistance to those requiring support.
For emergency assistance, the Indian mission has shared multiple helpline numbers and an official email address. Indian nationals who have not yet registered with the Embassy have been requested to do so through the Ministry of External Affairs’ online registration portal.
In case of internet disruptions within Iran, family members of Indian nationals in India have been advised to complete the registration on their behalf. (KDC)
