Sopore, January 01, 2026:
Sopore Police have identified 23 individuals for using unauthorized Virtual Private Network (VPN) services in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, Baramulla.
In this connection, security proceedings have been initiated against 15 individuals for non-compliance with the said orders.
It is pertinent to mention that on December 29, 2025, the District Magistrate, Baramulla, imposed a ban on the use of unauthorized VPN services to prevent the misuse of digital and online platforms, including encrypted communication applications, in the interest of public safety and security.
Sopore Police have reiterated their commitment to strictly enforcing lawful orders and ensuring that digital platforms are not misused in any manner that could pose a threat to public order and security. (Kashmir Rays)
