Providing CAPF assistance to J&K Admin, Adequate security arrangements in place for safety of pilgrims, senior officers taking periodical review of Amarnath Yatra’
Srinagar, Aug 06 : Union Minister of State for Home Nityanad Rai Tuesday informed the Lok Sabha that in the past five years, J&K saw just two terrorist attacks on pilgrims in which 14 causalities were reported as well.
In reply to written reply, the Union MoS Home, stated that to ensure safety and security of pilgrims, measures taken by the Government include issuance of Advisories from time to time, sharing of intelligence through institutional mechanism and providing Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) whenever requested by the concerned State/ Union Territory (UT).

“In particular, for safety and security of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, the measures taken by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir include Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been framed and implemented for safety/security of pilgrims.
Adequate security arrangement in coordination with all security agencies have been put in place for safety of Pilgrims,” the MoS Home told Parliament, as per news agency—Kashmir News Corner (KNC), adding that “CCTV cameras have been installed on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY), 2024, routes, Camps, langar points for proper surveillance and monitoring.
Drone surveillance is put in place at sensitive locations. Specialised quick action teams have been determinate at appropriate and sensitive locations. Corridor protection is provided by Army.
Senior level officers are deployed at Pahalgam/ Baltal to monitor the arrangements of SANJY, 2024. Senior level officers are supervising the Yatra by taking periodical reviews of SANJY.”—(KNC)
