Daring SDRF SPO Saves Elderly Person from Drowning in River Jhelum at Nawakadal

Srinagar, Apr 23 : An audacious Special Police Officer belonging to State Disaster Response Force saved an elderly person from drowning in river Jhelum at Nawakadal in central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

Imran Hussain Moti, resident of Moti Mohalla, Dal working as SPO in the Quick Response Team (QRT) of State Disaster Response Force, posted at Peerzo, Zero Bridge, according to an eye-witness, was returning home, from duty, when he saw some commotion at Nawakadal as an elderly person was struggling to get out from fast flowing waters of river Jhelum.

“With none of the spectators daring to make an attempt to rescue the drowning person, Imran utilizing his skills as a rescuer and skilled swimmer jumped into the fast flowing river and was able to save the life of this elderly person with the help of locals”, the eye-witness told GNS.

Hailing the young man for the courageous act, the locals have in the meantime appealed to the Government to consider Imran for suitable reward. (GNS)
