Will ensure no misuse of waqf funds: Chairperson Dr Darakshan Andrabi

Srinagar, Mar 24 : Chairperson of recently formed Waqf board, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi said that she will ensure that the funds are not misused.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Andrabi said that she is not going to make tall claims, but will take every step after witnessing the ground situation.

“At the first instance, I am visiting the shrines and other places falling under the jurisdiction of the Waqf board to check the wrongdoings,” she said, adding that she will remain intact to highlight the issues and put an end to any wrongdoing.

However, when asked about the huge amount being spent annually on salaries, she said that all those who have been appointed will not be thrown out, but one thing that needs to be done is to ensure that the waqf funds are not misused.

“We will take every possible step to ensure that the funds are not misused and any wrongdoing can’t be changed in a day, but it would take time and cooperation of people is pivotal in this regard,” she said—(KNO)
