FFRC allows Pvt schools to hike transportation charges by 12 percent only

Srinagar, Mar 11 : The Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee of Private Schools of Jammu and Kashmir (FFRC) on Friday allows Private School Management to hike transportation fee by only 12 percent.

According to the official details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), FFRC has accordingly directed the Private school managements to increase the transportation fee by 12 percent which was being paid by the students availing transport facility in October-2019 in winter zone and Feb- 2020 in summer Zone.

“This hike will be operative from the date of re-opening of schools vide orders supra,” it reads.

FFRC said that with the reopening of schools various complaints were received and are being received by the committee alleging that the private schools have made huge increase in transport fee.

“It is also alleged that the private school managements are demanding payment of advance transport fee either for full session or 50 percent of total fee. The schools also seek an undertaking from the parents regarding advance payment of fee,” reads the statement of FFRC.

FFRC said that the matter was placed before the committee in its meeting and is was decided that, “As a temporary measure and till such time final decision is taken, the school managements shall make 12 percent hike on transport fee which was being paid by the students availing transport facility in October-2019 in winter zone and Feb- 2020 in summer zone.”

It was also resolved that no private school shall seek any undertaking from parents or the students for advance tuition fee and transport fee. “The practice is illegal and shall not be allowed.”

The Committee accordingly directed that no school shall seek any type of undertaking from the parents or the students for advance payment of tuition fee, transport fee or any other fee.

“However the parents are at liberty to pay the fee monthly or quarterly,” FFRC said—(KNO)
