Srinagar, Mar 7 : Anti Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested a technical assistant besides a tout at RDD Block Arin Bandipora for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a contractor.

“Anti Corruption Bureau trapped and arrested Showket Ahmad Lone Technical Assistant and Irfan Yousuf Bhat (Tout), at Rural Development Department Block Arin, District Bandipora for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 18000 for preparing bills from a contractor”, reads a Bureau statement issued to GNS.

“ACB received a complaint wherein the complainant said that they received the allotment of work, “The work was completed and bills were to be prepared. He was demanding Rs.18000 for preparing bills of work done by the complainant”, maintains the statement.

“Upon receiving the instant complaint, prima facie offence U/s 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out. “Consequently, a case FIR was registered at P/S ACB and investigation taken up during the investigation, a trap team was constituted which laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Showket Ahmad and Irfan Yousuf while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs. 18000 from the complainant”, reads the statement.

Both were arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team, reads the statement.

“The bribe money was also recovered from [their] possession in presence of independent witnesses with further investigation into the case is on”, the statement citing an officer further read. (GNS)
