Ganderbal, Feb 10 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of stolen vehicle sellers and recovered five stolen vehicles in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Ganderbal Police busted a gang of stolen vehicle sellers and recovered five stolen vehicles, which were stolen from various parts of the country.
“The whole gang was arrested and stolen vehicles were also recovered from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora.”
To give impetus in the ongoing investigation in the vehicle theft case registered at Police Station Ganderbal under FIR number 231/2021 under relevant sections of law, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar constituted a special team headed by DO Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs. Ganderbal.
The said team succeeded in the recovery of five stolen vehicles with the arrest of five accused persons, police said and identified the arrested persons as Riyaz Ahmad, son of Rajan of Ganderbal, Riyaz Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Gani Rather of Nasrullapora Budgam, Showkat Ahmad Bland, son of Habibullah of Bijbihara Anantnag, Bilal Ahmad Danga, son of Bashir Ahmad of Dangmohalla Wakoora, Sakhi Rather, son of Ghulam Rasool Rather of Wakoora.
Interrogating the arrested persons, they disclosed that the stolen vehicles were plying on the roads of the district in a malafide manner. The recoveries of stolen vehicles were made from various areas of the district, police said.
The recovered vehicles include Hyundai Creta (01No.), Vitara Breeza (01No.), Hyundai i20 sports (01No.), Maruti Swift VDI (01No.) and Maruti Alto Car (01No.)
Pertinently, Ganderbal Police has recently busted a gang of burglars and is committed to save the life and property of the common people.
“Further investigation into above mentioned case is going on. General public is requested to co-operate with the Police so that menace of evil could be curbed and eliminated.”—(KNO)
