Srinagar, January 29: Police on Saturday refuted rumours regarding grenade attacks at Maharaja Bazaar and Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar city.

In statement issued to GNS, the police said that there is rumour doing rounds about some grenade attack in Srinagar today at Maharaja bazaar and Mehjoor Nagar. It is clarified that no such attack has taken place.

The police spokesman further said that media fraternity is requested to kindly verify news before spreading it. Such irresponsible reporting has tendency to cause panic among citizens of Srinagar.

It’s pertinent to mention that a grenade attack which happened few days back at Hari Singh High street where nine people were injured were all civilians. One among them was a employee of ACB not a Inspector as reported by media, reads the police statement.(GNS)
