Srinagar, Jan 11 : The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road connecting the Valley with rest of the States, was once again closed for vehicular movement on Tuesday after fresh landslides occurred at multiple places along the road.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) highway, Shabir Ahmad Malik said that the road was closed following the fresh landslides. “The traffic will be allowed to ply once the road is cleared. We are hopeful that the road will be cleared by late evening,” he said.

The highway was today open for the one-way traffic from Srinagar towards Jammu, officials had said.

Meanwhile, the weather conditions in J&K would remain dry till January 16.

Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus said that there is a possibility of further dip in the minimum temperature across Kashmir. “As there is no prediction of wet spell, we are expecting further dip in the night temperature,” he said—(KNO)
