As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr Shashi Sudhan while addressing a press conference in Jammu said that two among the three persons in whose samples variant of concern omicron was detected had no travel history but duo had attended many marriage functions and it seems that they had contracted virus in the function.

“It is obvious that they would have come in contact of several people while attending marriage functions,” Sudhan said.

She said that mutants will continue to come and there is need to remain vigilant and follow appropriate behaviour so that this virus will reach less people.

Sudhan said that this virus is unpredictable and can go anyway but there is need to follow CAB and go for vaccination.

“Our existing vaccines are covering omicron and there is no need to worry. Besides that testing kits available are covering all mutants. Samples of foreign travelers who are tested positive for Covid-19 are being sent to Delhi for genome sequencing and very soon we will have a genome sequencing lab here as well,” Sudhan said.

“We are ready to tackle any situation but prevention is better than cure and we must take precautions to avoid contraction of the virus,” she said—(KNO)
