Parts of Kashmir reel under darkness as PDD employees went on strike

Srinagar, Dec 18 : Amid the strike call by the employees of Power Development Department (PDD), several areas across Kashmir are reeling under darkness while the authorities have assured that the electricity will be restored tomorrow.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), locals from several areas in Srinagar and other districts said that they are without electricity for last many hours, and have been informed that the electricity is snapped due to “technical snag”.

JKPEECC had presented four point formula to the government to meet their demands with a rider that if none of their demands were accepted by the administrative department they will go ahead with a work boycott call shall start from intervening night 17th and 18th December.

The reports about snapping of the electricity has been received from Lassipora, Tral, Awantipora, Panzgam and many areas of Pulwama and Shopian.

Besides, the reports were also received from Nillow, Khull, Behibag, D H Pora, Bogund and other areas of Kulgam district. Locals from Kanihama area and other areas of Srinagar also said that they are reeling under darkness.

Meanwhile, Chief Engineer, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Aijaz Ahmad Dar informed KNO that the electricity has been restored in the areas where hospitals are located.

However, Dar said that the electricity in other areas will be restored by tomorrow—(KNO)
