Srinagar, Jan 23: The morning flights were delayed at the Srinagar airport after fresh spell of snow in parts of Kashmir valley on Saturday early morning, officials said here.

Director Srinagar Airport Santosh Dhoke while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that in view of continuous snowfall the flight operations at Srinagar Airport have been delayed.

“As soon as the weather improves the flight operations will resume. So far no flight has landed at Srinagar Airport today,” he said.

Meanwhile, Airport Authorities in a Tweet said there might be delay in flights due to fresh snowfall in valley.

“Runway not available till 09:00 due to snow fall. Flights may delay. Plan accordingly @Aaisnrairport @AAI_Official @aaiRedNR,” Srinagar Airport Tweeted.

Meanwhile, ADGP Traffic told KNO that the traffic authorities have allowed tankers, vehicles carrying perishable items and some passenger vehicles from Jammu towards Srinagar.

“It is snowing on the both sides of Jawhar tunnel and we have stopped the passenger vehicles at Jammu. We are closely monitoring the situation on highway and at the Jawhar Tunnel,” he said.

He said that in case the intensity of snowfall increases the decision would be taken accordingly.

Pertinently, the weatherman had predicted another spell of snow across J&K from January 22 evening to January 24.
