Srinagar, May 27 : A 16-year-old boy died after he drowned in Hokersar wetland on Tuesday, officials said.

The boy drowned while taking a bath amid the scorching heat.

Zaid, son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat of Chinar Colony, Zainakote, was taking a bath in the water when he slipped and drowned into the water.

Locals from the area, speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the incident happened at around 12 PM. Soon, locals rushed to the scene and launched a search operation that lasted several hours.

They said the search operation lasted several hours, and later his body was retrieved.

As Zaid’s body reached home, cries filled the lane, and mourners thronged the residence, many in disbelief, struggling to comprehend the sudden loss—(KNO)
