Srinagar, May 15 : India and Pakistan have agreed to continue confidence building measures (CBMs), including the ceasefire pact reached between the two nations on May 10, officials said on Thursday.

The Indian Army in a statement, issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that that further to the understanding between the two DGMOs on 10th of May 2025, it has been decided to continue the confidence building measures so as to reduce the alertness level.

It added that as situation develops further, details shall be shared accordingly.

Both countries announced a ceasefire pact along the Line of Control and the International Border after the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of two sides spoke to each other over hotline on May 10.

The two DGMO deliberated on various aspects of the understanding reached between the two sides on May 10 on stopping military actions and firings.

Indian Army, in a statement, had said talks between DGMO of India and Pakistan were held at 5:00 pm on Monday.

“Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed. It was also agreed that both sides consider immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas,” it was given out in the statement.

The military confrontation had erupted between the two sides after Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on several military installations in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, following “Operation Sindoor” by India to destroy terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK) to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Pakistan had also resorted to unprovoked firing and heavy artillery shelling on civilians areas along the LoC and IB in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The unprovoked shelling was responded with effectiveness by the Indian Army.

After over three days of intense exchange of fire, India and Pakistan on May 10 reached an ‘understanding’ to immediately stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea—(KNO)
