Srinagar, Apr 24 : The grief that has enveloped the valley continued for a third consecutive day following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 27 people, mostly tourists, and left many others injured. Srinagar was gripped by shock on Thursday, with widespread protests marking the third day of mourning. In a powerful show of solidarity, black flags flooded the city’s commercial hub of Lal Chowk, as shopkeepers raised these flags on their shutters and displayed banners denouncing the brutal killings.

As reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), black flags adorned shops and were visible on shutters along the entire stretch of Lal Chowk’s business district. Shopkeepers expressed their sorrow and anger over the incident, saying the flags represented a demonstration of solidarity with those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack.

“We may not know their names, but their pain is ours too,” said one shopkeeper in the area. He added, “They were guests in our land, and killing innocents is inhumane. We want the world to know that we Kashmiris reject this bloodshed.”

Numerous civil society members and local organisations joined in condemning the violence, calling for peace and unity during these challenging times. The community’s response underscores a collective desire for an end to such acts of terror and a campaign for harmony in the wake of tragedy—(KNO)
