Kathua, Apr 04 (KNO): Personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police opened fire after noticing suspicious movement in Duggian area in the Billawar region of Kathua district on Friday night, sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

They said the alert SOG personnel noticed suspicious movement in the dense forest area of Duggianin Billawar axis. Acting swiftly, they opened fire, suspecting the presence of armed infiltrators or terrorists attempting to move under the cover of darkness and terrain.

“Soon after the initial contact, a massive search and cordon operation was launched to trace the suspects. Additional reinforcements from the police and army were also rushed to the area to assist in the operation. The terrain and thick foliage are posing challenges to the search teams,” sources said, as per KNO.

“As of now, no casualties or arrests have been reported. The identity and number of suspects involved are yet to be ascertained,” they added.

Security forces have heightened vigilance in the region amid concerns of possible infiltration attempts or militant movement from across the border. The area remains sealed, and local residents have been advised to stay indoors while the search continues—(KNO)
