J&K government says will take up issue of change in components of central assistance with MHA

Jammu, Mar 12 : The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Wednesday said that they will take up the issue of revision of a few components of central assistance for Jammu & Kashmir with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs at an appropriate stage.

In response to a question of MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), minister in-charge Finance, Omar Abdullah said that they will take up the change in component-wise provision for the Jehlum Tawi Flood Recovery Project and hydroelectric projects with the MHA.

“As the component-wise provision for Jhelum-Tawi Flood Recovery Project and hydroelectric projects has changed, the same will be taken up with the Ministry of Home Affairs at appropriate stage, “the minister.

To a question whether there has been reduction in central assistance, the minister said that overall central assistance has maintained a steady level.

“The central assistance under Demand No. 58( Transfer of Assistance to J&K) was Rs 41751 crore in 2023-24(Revised Estimates), Rs 41000 crore in 2024-25(RE/ first supplementary), Rs 41000 crore in 2025-26(Budget Estimates),” he said—(KNO)
