As per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) thousands of people offered congregational prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid and Dargah Hazratbal shrine.

At Jamia Masjid in the old city, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who delivered the Friday sermon, stressed the importance of self-purification, spiritual growth, and deepening one’s connection with Allah during this sacred month.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection and self-discipline. It teaches us patience, righteousness, and the true essence of Taqwa (God-consciousness). By embracing these values, we can bring positive change in our personal lives and society,” Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir said while addressing the gathering, as per KNO.

Additionally, at Dargah Hazratbal Srinagar, a large number of devotees also participated in the prayers, offering supplications in a spiritually charged atmosphere. “Worshippers expressed gratitude for witnessing another Ramadan and prayed for peace and prosperity in the region.”

Mohammad Younis, a devotee at Hazratbal, said, “The first Friday of Ramadan always feels special. The sense of unity and devotion is overwhelming. We pray for better days ahead and seek Allah’s mercy.”

Another local, Sahil, said he always visits Hazratbal Shrine, whether it is Ramadan or normal days. “I feel peace and a divine connection whenever I visit Hazratbal. There is peace, and the atmosphere automatically becomes electric while asking for mercy from your Lord,” he said.

Meanwhile, authorities had made elaborate arrangements at Jamia Masjid and Hazratbal Shrine, along with other major mosques and shrines, to facilitate the smooth conduct of prayers.

Moreover, traffic management and security measures were in place to handle the large gatherings, ensuring that devotees could pray without any inconvenience— (KNO)
