Jammu, February 21: Police apprehended a terrorist, who was on the run since last eighteen years in Reasi district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that one absconder namely Anwar Ali Chouhan(40), S/O Haji Nizam Din Chouhan alias Jamsheer, R/O Gujjar Kothian, Talwara, Reasi, who had joined militancy in the year 2001 (HM) and remained active for seven years, later on surrendered in year 2007 in Kashmir and after surrendered concealed his presence and was hiding himself in Kashmir and at some unknown places and was absconding from arrest in the most wanted criminal/militancy cases of P/S Reasi, time to time conducted so many raids at his house at Gujjar Kothian, Chinore Jammu and Kherpora Anantnag but he was not found at these locations. Thereafter Hon’ble Court was approached and action under section 82, 83 Cr.PC was initiated against him even that the accused did not found anywhere. the accused got arrested today from forest area near Gujjar Kothian, Talwara.
He was involved in the following cases of Police Station Reasi.

The police spokesman further stated that on 5 January 2006 a Case FIR No. 04/2006 U/S 307, 120B ,121 (A) RPC, 7/27 Arms Act was registered at P/S Reasi in which during search operation in forest area of Jadd, Talwara. Some unknown terrorists started firing on police party and after which the terrorist managed to escape taking advantage of dense forest. One granade was recovered and during the course of investigation involvement of said Anwar Ali S/O Haji Nizzamudin R/O Gujjar Kothian Caste Bakerwal was revealed out against whom the chargesheet was produced U/S 512 Cr.PC in the Court of Law.

On 07 April 2006 a Case FIR No. 57/2006 U/S 302/307/120B/121 (A)/ 212/216 RPC 7/27 Arms Act 3 JKPS Act was registered at P/S Reasi in which one Hand Granade was thrown in a bus bearing registration number JK02P-3881 at Baradari Reasi in which 05 persons got injured and later on Father of the then Dy.SP HQ Reasi succumbed to his injuries and died due to that Granade Blast, he said.

During the course of investigation the charge sheet was presented before hon’ble court U/S 512 Cr.PC against two persons namely Mumtaz Ali Chouhan and Anwar Ali Chouhan both sons of Haji Nizam Din Chouhan R/O Gujjar Kothian Talwara Reasi, Mumtaz was arrested in the year 2007 and Anwar Ali was absconding. He had been absconding for the past 18 years and has been arrested by PS Reasi, reads the statement.(GNS)
