55 Security Personnel Injured in Militancy-Related Incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in 2024

Srinagar, Dec 31: In 2024, a total of 55 security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, and Special Police Officers (SPOs), sustained injuries in various militancy-related incidents across Jammu and Kashmir. These injuries were reported during encounters, militant attacks, and cross-border operations.

In the Rajouri district, two soldiers were injured in an IED blast in the Nowshera sector, while another soldier suffered critical injuries when militants attacked the headquarters of a Territorial Army battalion in Galuti Patrara village of Manjakote. Militants also fired on a post in Gundhah village, leaving one soldier injured.

The Doda district witnessed a series of attacks, including militants firing on a joint checkpoint in the Chatergala area, which injured five soldiers and an SPO. In Kota Top, Dandoh, a policeman, Fardeen Ahmed, was injured during an encounter. Other incidents in Doda included injuries to a soldier in the Deesa forest area and two more soldiers in a gunfight at the Jaddan Bata forest area. Militants also targeted a temporary camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata, injuring one soldier.

The Poonch and Kishtwar districts also witnessed injuries to the uniformed men. Four soldiers were injured in an encounter at Sanai Top in Poonch, while three soldiers were injured during operations in the Keshwan forest area of Kishtwar. Two soldiers were wounded in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area of Chatroo Kishtwar.

Encounters in the Bandipora district led to multiple injuries, with two soldiers wounded in the Ranji forest of Argam and two others in the Ketsun forest area.

The Kupwara district saw four soldiers, including a Captain, injured in a gunfight in the Kamkari sector of Thregam. In Kokarnag, Anantnag, four soldiers were injured during an operation in the Ahlan Gagarmandu forest area.

In the Kathua district of Jammu, five soldiers sustained injuries during a militant attack in the Badnota area, while an encounter in Kogmandali village injured two police officers, including a DSP and a Sub-Inspector.

An encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area left four security personnel injured. In Kulgam, three soldiers and a police officer of ASP rank were wounded in Adigam Devsar, while two soldiers were injured during a gunfight in Kadder village.

Other incidents across the Jammu and Kashmir included injuries to two soldiers in an encounter in Jaddan Bata, four soldiers in Kulgam, and two security personnel in the Ketsun forest area of Bandipora. In Pulwama, militants shot at and injured a soldier, Dileer Mushtaq Sofi, who was on leave in Sofigund Tral. [KNT]
