Property Worth 20 Lac Of Drug Peddler Attached In Downtown Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, December 17 : Police on Tuesday said that it have attached property of a drug peddler worth 20 lac under relevant sections in downtown area of Srinagar district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that it has attached property comprising of movable assets in the form of two vehicles, valued at approximately ₹20 lakhs, which were acquired through the sale of illicit drugs and substances by two drug peddlers namely Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Pacha son of Ghulam Hassan Shah resident of Dalal Mohalla and Rakib Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Salam Dar resident of Rajouri Kadal, who are accused in NDPS Act cases.

The spokesman further stated that during the course of investigation in two NDPS cases, FIR No. 48/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act and FIR No. 51/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station MR Gunj, the proceeds of illicit drug trade have been identified and attached today under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

The proper legal procedure under the NDPS Act has been followed during the attachment process, he said.

Pertinently, this decisive action is a part of the relentless crackdown on drug peddlers by Srinagar Police in the last few months, he said.

The ongoing crackdown on drug peddlers and their illegally acquired assets will continue with full vigor, as it remains a key strategy to eliminate the drug menace from society.
The commitment of J&K Police towards achieving a drug-free society is unwavering and steadfast, reads the statement.(GNS)
