Anantnag Police Tighten Grip on Narcotics: ₹1.6 Crore Worth of Drug Traffickers’ Properties Attached Under NDPS Act

Srinagar, November 25 : Police on Monday said that in a relentless crackdown on Drug trafficking, Anantnag Police have attached properties worth ₹1.6 crore under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In a handout to GNS, the police said tharlt Police Station Aishmuqam attached and froze properties belonging to Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger, son of Mohammad Sadiq Ahanger, a resident of Hapatnaar Aishmuqam. The seized assets include a double-storey concrete building and a concrete shop, collectively valued at approximately ₹1.3 crore. Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger is implicated in ongoing narcotics-related offenses, and this action aims to dismantle his illegal operations.

Additionally, Police Station Anantnag attached a Double-storey building with six concrete shops in Sadoora, belonging to Bashir Ahmed Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir. A habitual offender involved in multiple narcotics cases, Bashir Ahmed Mir’s seizedi assets are valued at around ₹30 lakh.

These decisive actions underscore Anantnag Police’s aggressive strategy to combat the drug menace by targeting not only offenders but also freezing assets acquired through illegal activities. This sends a strong message: drug trafficking will not only be punished but its economic foundation will be systematically dismantled, he said.

Anantnag Police remain committed to eradicating the drug trade and urge the Public to report any suspicious activity. Together, we can fight this menace, reads the statement.(GNS)
