Police solves cheating case in Handwara; 3 persons arrested

Srinagar, Jul 20 : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Handwara on Saturday said to have arrested three accused persons involved in honey-trapping by impersonating as a girl on social media platform & grabbing money.

Police Station Vilgam received an application regarding cheating on social media platform (Facebook) using honeytrap method and grabbing money. In this regard, a case FIR No. 43/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation was set into motion, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

During the course of investigation, three persons involved in the commission of crime were arrested. They were cheating people using their fake Facebook account and impersonating as a girl.

They have been identified as Firdous Ah Tantray son of Mohd Shafi Tantray, Danish Ah Bhat son of Gh. Mohd Bhat and Aaliyan Ah Bhat son of Ashiq Hussain Bhat, all residents of Dohama Vilgam. The trio arrested persons have been taken into custody and their mobile phones have been seized. Further investigation into the case is in progress, police said.

Meanwhile, police urged people not to fall in the trap of cheaters/fraudsters on social media and not to share personal details with unknown persons—(KNO)
