IGP Kashmir reviews Muharram arrangements, implementation of new laws in Kashmir Zone

Srinagar, July 02: IGP Kashmir Zone V.K Birdi chaired a meeting at PCR Kashmir in which  DIsG of all the ranges and district SSsP participated. The meeting was also attended by SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir Zone, JDP ZPHQ and SP Cargo.

The meeting focused on various security arrangements to be put in place for upcoming month of Muharram during which a large number of religious processions are expected to be taken in various parts of the valley. The security measures related to challenges in the  management of mourning processions, crowd control, traffic regulation and maintenance of law & order during the period were also discussed.

 

IGP Kashmir stressed for engagement with the Shia community leaders and members, seeking their cooperation for safe and peaceful conduct of all the events. He also directed the district heads to devise comprehensive security strategies and route plans in their respective districts so as to prevent any untoward event. He also advised the officers to visit Imambargahs and Mosques to review the security arrangements and conduct coordination meetings with both Sunni & Shia community members.

 

At last, IGP Kashmir also reviewed the implementation of new laws and also took feedback from the district chiefs with regard to the training requirements of the staff for implementation of these new laws. He directed that the SHOs/I.Os of Police Stations be sensitized with regard to procedural formalities in order to implement these new laws in practice.
