Srinagar, June 2: Journalists who leave their offices in the middle of the night are irked that the parking lot at Press Enclave Srinagar is shutting down earlier than the scheduled hours.

The parking lot at Srinagar Press Enclave falls under the jurisdiction of Smart City Project Limited.

Various Journalists told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that they are being forced to park their vehicles outside the Press Colony.

“The other day I parked my car in the parking lot and to my utter shock, the parking lot was closed when I left my office. I was left with no option but to march towards my home on foot,” said a senior journalist.

Most of the journalists who work for different media outlets leave their offices during the dead of the night. The parking lot is supposed to remain open 24×7 hours but that is not the case here.

Another journalist who underwent a similar ordeal
said, “I was informed that the parking at the particular station will be closed at 10 pm. I park my vehicle in the open on the road and I am always concerned about the safety of my vehicle,” he said.

When contacted, one of the officials said that journalists can park their vehicles outside the parking lot in the Press Enclave. He added that they have clear-cut orders from the top to close the parking station before midnight.
