Civilian Killings: Families of victims meet Defense Minister

Jammu, Dec 27: The family members of the three civilians killed allegedly in army custody in Poonch met the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday.

Reports said that police and civil administration accompanied the family members of three victims.

Reports added that some top army officers had visited the homes of 3 families at Topa Pir village near Poonch district’s Bufliaz area and assured strict action against those responsible for the deaths of 3 civilians.

Insiders said that the relatives of the victims met the Defense Minister and sought punishment for those involved in the torture and death of three civilians. They said the families have been promised of justice.

Pertinently, the district administration has promised Rs 30 lakh, a government job and a 10 marla plot in Surankote to the next of kin of each deceased. Of this, it has already paid them cheques of Rs 10 lakh each.

The three civilians were killed allegedly in army custody shortly after the militant attack on army vehicle which left 4 soldiers dead and 3 soldiers sustained injuries. [KNT]
