Army soldier among 2 feared drowned in Chenab In Doda

Jammu, Aug 3 : Two persons including an army soldier on Thursday slipped into River Chenab and are feared dead in Doda district, officials said.

They said that about 1200 hours, the do identified as 25-year-old Rohit Singh (serving in Army) son of Remesh Kumar and Sunil Kumar (24) son of Ram Raj, both residents of Durga Nagar Khallani Doda drowned in Chenab River near Durga Nagar while they were washing their hands after performing last rites (cremation) of their relative on the bank of the water body.

Soon after getting information, a police party headed by Dy.SP Headquarters Doda rushed to the spot and along with locals and teams of SDRF launched a rescue operation.

Confirming it, SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom told GNS that hitherto there was trace of the duo and efforts are underway to find them. (GNS)
