Kupwara, Apr 03 : In a shocking incident, a former minister of National Conference in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district visited the house of an accused in a drug peddling case to greet him after he was released on bail.

In a video which has gone viral on social media, former minister and National Conference vice-president Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan can be seen greeting Abdul Majid Sofi, who was arrested for his involvement in a drug case in 2021 and was granted bail by a court few days ago.

“Tuhi Chuw Mubarak (congratulations to you)” , Choudhary can be heard telling him in the video before entering his house.

When contacted by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan defended his action.

“His wife is a DDC member of National Conference. Her husband was released on a bail. It was our responsibility to go to his home,” he said, adding that the court has released him on bail.

Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan was a minister in the National Conference- Congress but lost 2014 election from Handwara segment—(KNO)
