Srinagar, Mar 1 : A girl was rescued after she alongside a boy allegedly jumped into river Jhelum in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district this afternoon, reports and official sources said.

Reports reaching GNS said that a large-scale rescue operation was initiated at Dewan Bagh Foot Bridge, near Gulnaar Park, in Baramulla soon after news about the drowning of a boy and girl spread in the area.

The NDRF assisted by locals rescued the girl while the operation continued to locate the boy – when this report was being filed.

In the meantime official sources told GNS that a boy and girl allegedly jumped into the water body. “Soon after intimation, authorities launched a rescue operation, which has so far yielded in rescue of the girl”, they said adding the operation to find the boy continues at the site.

A police official told GNS that a police team is on the site to collect details. “Once we receive any credible information, we will share it accordingly”, the official said. (GNS)
