Militant, soldier killed in Awantipora encounter

Srinagar, Feb 28 : A militant and a soldier were killed while another soldier was injured in an encounter in Padgampora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint of team of police, Army’s 55 RR and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area launched search operation.

He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated to, thus triggering an encounter.

He said in the ensuing encounter a militant and soldier were killed while another soldier was injured.

He said that identification of the militant is being ascertained.

“The injured soldier has been shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for treatment,” the official said—(KNO)
