Sultan Lions Tulmulla clinched the trophy by defeating Libra Blues Saloora by 6 counters in the final match played at Qamariya stadium here.

The tournament which started on October 23 last month was organised by Ganderbal Police “in memory of J&K police martyrs who had given their lives to preserve the integrity and sovereignty of the nation”.

Sixteen cricket teams from across the district participated in the tournament which was played on a knockout basis.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on the sidelines of the event, SSP Gandarbal Nikhil Borkar said the tournament was organised in memory of slain personnel of the Jammu & Kashmir Police. “We host this tournament every year and we will try to organise such events in the future too. This will help our youth to grow further in sports.”

Such sports activities being organised by J&K Police provide a better platform for youth to explore their talent and channelise their energy in the right direction, the SSP said—(KNO)
