Two LeT militant associates held along with arms, ammo in Bandipora: Police

Bandipora, Aug 25 : Two militant associates of LeT were arrested along with arms and ammunition in Pethkoot area of Bandipora district, police said here on Thursday.

In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesperson said that today after receiving a specific information regarding the movement of some militant associates of LeT in the JD of police Station Pethkoot, Bandipora police along with 26 Assam Rifles arrested two militant associates of LeT outfit near Lal Qilla Mode in Pethkoot during a joint naka.

The statement reads that the arrested LeT associates were travelling in a white Scorpio and during search of the vehicle huge cache of arms and ammunition which includes 03 Pistols along with Magazines, 24 Live 9MM Rounds, 05 hand grenades, one blanket, fake police I Card and fake ID Card of Health Department and other daily use items were recovered from there possession.

They have been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Wani of Pethkoot and Manzoor Ahmed Shah of Bagh Bandipora.

“During preliminary investigation it was revealed that they were in touch with some active militants of LeT and the duo was tasked to revive militancy by motivating youth to join militant ranks and spread militancy in the district, besides giving logistic support to militants,” it reads.

It added that timely action and arrest of these associates averted a major militant activity in the district. “In this connection Case FIR under relevant sections has been registered and further investigation has been taken up,” it reads—(KNO)
