Srinagar, Jul 20 : Seven ‘gamblers’ were arrested and one lac thirty-two thousand rupees recovered from their possession in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, official sources said on Wednesday evening.

They told GNS that police station Tangmarg received information from reliable sources that some persons are gambling near Drang Park, following which a police party raided the site and arrested seven persons. “During their frisking, the police team recovered rupees one-lac thirty-two thousand stake money, two sets of playing cards besides also taking into seizure two vehicles”, they said.

The accused have been identified as; Amir Hayat Khan, son of Assadullah Khan, resident of Tang Bagh Nawakadal; Mushtaq Ahmed Baba son of Ghulam Rasool Baba, resident of Chadihar Wanganpora Eidgah; Mohd Ismail Bangru son of Mohd Sultan Bangru, resident of Tanga Bagh Eidgah; Mohd Maqbool Wani son of Farook Ahmad Wani, resident of Wanganpora Eidgah, Sajad Ahmad Wani son of Khazir Mohd Wani, resident of Wanganpora Eidgah; Lateef Ahmad Bhat son of Mehrajudin Bhat, resident of Zoonimar Soura and Mohd Younis Malik son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Main Chowk Eidgah.

Confirming it a police official told GNS that an FIR vide number 66/22 u/s 13 Gambling Act has been registered in this regard and investigations taken up. (GNS)
